Absolutely true and oh so beautiful! Love all the word pictures and experiences shared - can almost imagine many of them! Your lovely daughter has captured and understands her dad’s skill and insight with words and feelings.

A beautiful contrast to the discussion you and I were having on Notes a bit ago. These moments are truly what a full life reflects and I’m happy for both you and your daughter for the relationship you share. I do appreciate your authentic voice and your writing style which feels like we’re in a casual conversation and you’re just sharing about your life. Brilliant.

I’m not a writer; I’m just a storyteller, but thank you.

Wrecked me. So beautiful. The imagery of your daughter wiggling her toes in the sand like she was a child was just perfect. You’re a great dad man - I’m happy she lets you know.

Truly beautiful. xxoooxoxo. (I know my father felt the same way, as I did about him.) A very touching read. In all things, give thanks.

Yes, in all things, give thanks. We are surrounded by beauty and love and what can often only be described as small miracles.

Beautiful, tender, thoughtful, HOPEFUL, a triumph! It is a story of overcoming a sad childhood and raising your daughter in a better, loving way. What JOY for you both! Amen!

Beautiful story. At age 71 (tomorrow), I think about my Dad and how much I miss him. To say that he, like you, was incredibly special is the understatement of the century. Thank you for sharing these memories with us.

I waved at you guys yesterday morning, but I was riding with my wife, so you probably didn’t recognize me.

Oh, sorry! We didn’t see you. I am terrible at recognizing vehicles too. Wave harder next time 😂

Hey wonderful Switter!

My father and I got each other, too, to put it simply. We paid attention to what the other liked, wanted and needed. When I lost him in 2019, I wrote a book entitled SAY WHAT NEEDS TO BE SAID because at some point you won't be able to. She's lucky in many ways, but perhaps particularly that you are an excellent communicator. ❤️

I just love this. Such a special bond between a dad and daughter. I have two boys and a daughter and my kids had a special bond with their dad. Unfortunately he died at the age of 38 but fortunately I married another wonderful guy and gained two stepkids. My "new" husband has a special bond with my daughter, and now her little girl and it just warms my heart.

Your daughter is very special. And I know fathers & daughters have special relationships. What a beautiful way to show her how special she is to you.

She texted me last night, after all the daily warnings and instructions, and said “I love you, daddy.” 🫠

I shared this with my husband, who is the proud and wonderful father of two grown daughters. There are many romanticized-for-film accounts of people who made the choice to not let go of goodness. This one---like the Velveteen Rabbit---is REAL. Thanks, Switter, for doing the work it takes everyday to be in this place.

Your daughter was lucky to be born into your family. It sounds as if she has used that advantage and become a force of good on the planet . Thank you and her mom for raising her to be that light in the world.

I don’t like it when people brag about their kids or dogs, but. . . 🤪

Nothing warms my heart more than when she tells me about the progress her little “nuggets” make or some crazy sweet thing they say to her. She is a pediatric speech therapist and an administrator, but I think she’d work for love alone.

Except I don’t like it when people brag about their kids or dog. I heard it’s not bragging if it’s true.

It's all in the tone of voice and you don't have that braggart tone of voice. 🤣

I think she kind of runs the show. She’s the border collie, I am the sheep! “Dad, are you wearing hearing protection? Dad, did you make it home okay? Dad, are you ignoring my messages? Daddy, I love you!”
