I can “sing” like that when I have a sore throat or laryngitis. Well, sing and Switter really aren’t two words meant to go together, but you can probably get my drift.
I can scare away yowling tomcats at night with my “singing.”
Oh, wow. I got through the first several and then life swooshed me away. You really should make these into a playlist, Switter, so I can just listen in succession. That's really the only way I'm going to be able to decide on the too-ness of the ethnic here. Also, it's a whole other experience to LISTEN to this music without also SEEING it. The videos lead the witness, imo.
I have many questions:
1. Why is the sacred Siberian prayer not translatable (or so say the subtitles)?
2. Why does the guitar in Spoon Lady sound like a banjo?
3. Why are Scottish men the only ones known for wearing skirts? What about Irish, Indigenous, and other wrap-wearing cultures?
4. When did you have a robust enough internet connection to upload all these videos? Are you really hiking, or are you at a spa retreat somewhere?
1. Lazy translator? When I lived in that part of the world, all the pirated dvds were dubbed over by a deep voiced male smoker. Even the little kids had deep, male, smoker’s voices.
2. I’m pretty sure there is a banjo player off camera.
3. Because what else can we Scots and descendants brag about? Certainly not haggis.
4. I have a couple dozen draft articles I put a few finishing touches on and then send. Interestingly, I’ve enjoyed 5g service most of the way.
5. I am off the trail until Wednesday because of a few honeydews. We built plenty of time into our schedule so we can get to Kennedy Meadows on the southern end of the Sierras about the time enough snow melts enough to let us keep walking.
Waking up in a dry bed at home seems like a luxury spa, so yes, I’m at a luxury spa until Wednesday.
I like that you are moving on and off the trail. That sounds like a much less taxing way to go about this mission. The deep voiced, smoking (not in the good sense) male translator made me laugh but not as much as "certainly not haggis." 😂
Let me know when you get that Spotify going. Enjoy the time at home!
It was the Hu, and as I mentioned to Sharron, something about the thought of the Mongol hordes sweeping across the Steppes of Asia on Fat Boys, Shovelheads, and Hardtail Harleys, all with weed burner pipes makes me happy.
Just finished 2 seasons of 'Marco Polo' where the Mongolian throat singers were in every episode. You first introduced them to me some time ago.

🤣
The Taiwanese folk metal with the neighing horse!!
I love the creativity and the unexpected about world music. It seems there is more to sing about than getting dumped by a boyfriend.

Great fun! Thank you, Switter.
Somehow it seems proper that the Mongol hordes would ride Harleys across the Asian steppes.
