I love this. Thank you. And sunflowers do bring me joy with their rebellious, in-your-face beauty. Jeff planted a whole line of seeds purchased from a catalog last spring and the squirrels ate them all. Then a couple of weeks ago, I spotted one cheeky little blossom by a wine barrel whose plantings had shriveled in the heat. In time, its face crinkled up, but another has risen like Christ to give me hope in another part of the garden. Our attempts to start a wildflower meadow has been an interesting experience, to say the least. They say it takes three years to bring such a garden to magnificent splendor, but this is Nevada. Splendor doesn't grow here.
I shouldn't complain, really. Tell me to shut up, Switter. Life is good here, despite its little challenges. There's always something, right? It wouldn't be planet Earth otherwise.
“Brilliant, multi-petaled joy” — just beautiful, Switter 🌻
😊
"...multi-petaled joy..." "...my own self a last blossom, a dry and brittle whisper." Lovely. Thanks for sharing this a different side of you.
A lovely tribute to those who follow the sun
Thank you, my sister sunflower enjoyer.

The birds planted a circle of sunflowers around their feeder. We and the bees think that’s divine!
They are divine. Especially here at this time of the year, they are the only show around, which makes them even more beautiful.
They are the only show here in the late summer. Alas, they are buried under the snow, which means spring is around the corner.

There’s about a 50 mile strip along the west border of Nevada that’s pretty, so you have that going for you!

Such bright, bold proof of life!
I have a hard time thinking of you as a brittle whisper though.
Nice touches here, Switter.
Joy is a great descriptive word for a sunflower.
