I really enjoy Marc's Substack, and yours, too, Switter. I think you both are making the daily decision to see goodness in the world when you could, very easily, do the opposite. It's so easy to be cynical. Happiness takes effort. Thank you both.
I love Zimbabwe, the land there, but mostly the people. My experiences in that wounded little country made me in into a man. I learned about life when I lived there.
Although we are unable to live in more than one place at a time, if I could, I’d live both here in the mountains of Idaho and in a little thatched cottage in the Matopos Hills.
Marc grabs my heartstrings when he writes about Myles. Being a dad is the second greatest experience a man can have. The first best is to love and be loved by a woman through thick and thin, better and worse, and grow old together. I may be old fashioned and politically incorrect writing that, but I am expressing my lived experience, and that should give me a pass. Also, in our home, we rule by patriarchy «« AND » » matriarchy. Ying and yang. The unmovable object and the irresistible force. Thank God for the differences!
I want to be half the dad you are. Last line gutted me - exactly who I want me as well. Thank you for such beautiful stories man.
I love you dad!
Shhh. People will think we are happy.
Hah. I think we might have guessed.

Lovely
What precious memories. Zimbabwe is the most amazing country, despite the political situation.

I agree, it would be wonderful to spend time in the places one loves best. I loved the Chimanimani mountains.
I spent a few holidays there, but I’m kind of a Matabeleland boy.
You grabbed my heartstrings. A wonderful post!
