My kids grew up watching a British clay animation series called Wallace and Gromit. I watched, too, although I was already an adult. For anyone who hasn’t watched Wallace and Gromit, your life is much smaller and closed off than it could be, and if there are children in your life, you owe them at least one episode.
Wallace enjoyed cheese and cheese was often the focus of an episode. Once, when Wallace ran out of cheese, a Wensleydale variety, he came up with a plan to build a moon rocket so he and Gromit could harvest all the moon cheese they wanted.
A couple of weeks ago, while browsing at Walmart for a chunk of Limburger cheese for a friend (yes, the cheese was intended for retaliation purposes only), I happened to find a wedge of Wensleydale cheese, so I bought it as a gift for my daughter who really had fun showing Wallace and Gromit clips to her hubby while they snacked on Wensleydale cheese.
A few days ago, one of our senior editorial staff members had a birthday, but because it was during the middle of the week, the big celebration wasn’t until today. And wasn’t he surprised when his daughter brought him his birthday cake:
It’s Wallace and Gromit sitting on the moon, or perhaps in this case, a cheese cake. She made Wallace and Gromit, their tea cup and the cheese wedge from clay, inspired by my spur of the moment discovery of Wallace’s favorite cheese. It was a very happy birthday for a senior member of Switter’s World editorial staff.
Ain’t love grand!
My son remembers seeing it at your house in Maryland
Happy Birthday. 🧀🤗
